How To Tell A Genuine FCA Authorised Site From A Scam Site

Spot the Scam: Huge Loan Lender vs. Badger Loans

When quick borrowing’s on the cards, scammers often pull out all the stops. Here’s how to spot the difference between Huge Loan Lender, a clear scam and Badger Loans, the real deal.

1. FCA Authorisation

  • Huge Loan Lender has no trace on the FCA Register or Warning List which is an immediate red flag. Legitimate lenders must show clear authorisation credentials.
  • Badger Loans clearly presents its FCA number and warns users about cloning and scams on the “Don’t Get Scammed!” page. badgerloans.co.uk

✅ Tip: Always check FCA registration and beware if a site lacks it.

2. Company Details & Transparency

  • Huge Loan Lender offers no company address, no registered number and hides who they are. Another sure sign of common scam behaviour.
  • Badger Loans provides its FCA registered number, registered address and Companies House code. Everything you need for transparency.

✅ Tip: No official company info? It’s likely a scam.

3. Fees, Promises & Pressure Tactics

  • Huge Loan Lender boasts “no fees” while pressuring applicants with fast approvals and same-day funding but the idea all the time is to get you to fill out their ‘application form’.
  • Badger Loans also delivers fast turnaround and same-day payouts legitimately but never demands payment upfront and warns against others who do so.

✅ Tip: If they brag “no fees” but demand anything up front, run for the hills.

4. Security & Communication

  • Huge Loan Lender might have a secure padlock but offers no verified contact or two-way support, just forms.
  • Badger Loans features a secure, encrypted site and offers support via email. Our “Don’t Get Scammed!” page clearly states we don’t cold-call or contact customers in any way, shape or form. Except for our newsletter. badgerloans.co.uk

✅ Tip: Lack of secure communication or evasive contact = not legit.

️ 5. Scam Warnings & Clone Knowledge

  • Huge Loan Lender is absent from FCA warnings, yet that doesn’t mean it’s safe. Fast payouts + missing paperwork = suspicion.
  • Badger Loans not only warns users on its site about clone scams but also regularly updates advice to keep customers vigilant.

✅ Tip: A lender that actively warns about scams is one you can trust.

Your Best Bet: Know & Choose Wisely

No fees + urgent demands = classic advance-fee scam pattern. Badger Loans offers the same speedy service but only after paperwork finishes and never with hidden pre-payments.

In the time between writing and publishing this post we went back and had another look at Huge Loan Lender to make sure we’re not firing off on all cylinders at a legitimate lender. After all, no one wants to get sued for libel eh? Here’s what we found that makes us 99.9% certain they’re a scam site trying to fleece you of your money.

  1. Look at the English used. It’s awful and hasn’t been written by anyone who’s been brought up and taught to write in the UK. It’s fairly evident where they come from by the language used. Doesn’t necessarily make them scammers but it adds weight to the evidence.
  2. Testimonials. Again, look at the English and take Victoria from London as an example. Would she really write like that? Not a chance.
  3. Application form. It’s not an application form, it’s a contact form and exists solely to get your email address and phone number. Provide that and let the fun begin. Don’t do it!
