Don’t Get Scammed!

Are You Worried About Being Scammed?

Have you been contacted by someone asking you for money to complete a loan? Has someone rung you saying they’re from Badger Loans and your loan is ready but they need some money first? Have you received what looks like a loan offer in Badger Loans name? If your answer is yes to any of the above questions then you are being scammed. No ifs, no buts, it’s a scam. Don’t get scammed!

Please do not hand over any money. The police and Financial Conduct Authority have been informed and are investigating. If you have lost money to the scammer please call Action Fraud on 0300 1232040 quoting crime reference number 2305 0595 4477 or the Financial Conduct Authority on 0800 111 6768

Badger Loans is a credit brokerage. As such we do not lend our money or anyone else’s. We put you the customer in touch with lenders who do that. No lender we deal with from our lending panel will ring you, email or text you asking for money to complete a loan. Ever. Neither will they ask for ‘bad credit loan insurance’ because it doesn’t exist. If someone suggests you purchase a prepaid card like Google’s or anyone else’s they are trying to scam you.

Previous Blog Posts on Staying Safe

Unfortunately in today’s climate of fear, mistrust and outright lies it’s an incredibly hard job knowing who you can trust. There are a few things you can do to protect yourself. We’ve written 2 blog posts on that topic because our customers have been hit by scammers on at least 2 or 3 previous occasions. You can read our most recent blog post written last year here. The previous post is available here.

The best rule of thumb to apply here is basically this: if someone is asking you for money it doesn’t matter which company they say they’re from, they’re scammers. Neither Badger Loans nor any other Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulated company rings customers asking for money to complete a loan or for any other reason. The link to the FCA is to their register of companies. Our FCA number is 747140. Please check it to reassure yourself if needed.

The only time Badger Loans will possibly contact a customer is via email. We email on completion of the application form if you tick the box asking for credit repair. Customers who have ticked the box giving permission to contact them get emailed 2 weeks after applying. This is to invite you to apply again if unsuccessful first time around and we do this again a further 2 weeks later. Our final email is sent out 6 months after applying and that’s it. Anyone who unsubscribes hears nothing from us ever again. As it should be.

Final Thoughts

We have heard from the FCA that there is a company pretending to be us from somewhere in London offering people car finance. We don’t offer anyone car finance and never have. They use our registered address to make them appear genuine but a quick check of the site reveals we don’t do car finance. The FCA say there is a clone site of Badger Loans but we can’t find one. So, if you are on this site and it has a locked padlock up in the top left corner of the address bar, you are safe and can apply for a loan. Nobody will steal your information and nobody will ring you saying they are us because we don’t ring people up.

Most loan sites you visit these days have warnings of one sort or another on them. That is because there is so much fraud going on now since the advent of everything being online. Every day our email inbox is full of scammers pretending to be our bank, our delivery company, a well known streaming service or a well known digital book seller (they used to be). All trying to part you from your money. Don’t make it easy for them. Don’t get scammed! It’s hard but not impossible to stay safe and keep your money in your pocket.

We wish you the very best of luck.
