Can You Get a Loan With a CCJ?
Yes, it may still be possible to get a loan if you have a County Court Judgment (CCJ), but there is no separate regulated product formally called a “CCJ loan”. The phrase is usually used to describe borrowing for people whose credit history includes a CCJ.
Approval is never guaranteed. Lenders will look at your current income, essential outgoings, existing debts, recent payment history and whether the proposed repayments are affordable.
What Is a CCJ?
A CCJ is a court order in England and Wales requiring someone to repay money they owe. A CCJ can remain on your credit file for six years unless it is paid in full within one month and removed from the register. Paying it later can still help because the record may be marked as satisfied.
You can read the official guidance on County Court Judgments for debt.
How Does a CCJ Affect a Loan Application?
A CCJ can make borrowing more difficult because it shows that a previous debt reached court action. The impact may depend on:
- how recent the CCJ is;
- whether it has been satisfied;
- the amount involved;
- whether there are other defaults or missed payments;
- your current income and affordability;
- the amount you want to borrow.
A lender may offer a smaller amount, a higher APR or a different repayment term than you requested. Some applications will still be declined.
Are CCJ Loans Guaranteed?
No. Responsible UK lenders cannot promise guaranteed approval, no-refusal borrowing or a loan without checks. They must assess creditworthiness and affordability before deciding whether to lend.
Be cautious of any website promising “guaranteed CCJ loans”, asking for an upfront fee or claiming that no credit check is required. Our Bad Credit Loan Regulations and FCA Rules guide explains the main warning signs.
What Are Your Options?
Badger Loans is a credit broker, not a lender. We can compare one application with a panel of UK lenders, some of which consider applicants with CCJs, defaults or other adverse credit. The lender decides whether to make an offer.

How Can You Improve Your Chances?
- Use accurate address, employment, income and bank details.
- Check that the CCJ information on your credit reports is correct.
- If the CCJ has been paid, confirm that it is marked as satisfied.
- Apply only for the amount you genuinely need.
- Avoid making several applications in a short period.
- Check the monthly repayment and total amount repayable before proceeding.

What If Borrowing Is Not Suitable?
If you are already struggling with debts or court payments, another loan may make the position worse. Consider speaking to the creditor, asking whether an affordable arrangement is available, or seeking free debt guidance before taking on more borrowing.
Our Alternatives to Bad Credit Loans guide covers credit unions, payment arrangements, budgeting support and other possible options.
Badger Loans does not charge customers to apply. Any loan offer is subject to the lender’s checks, terms and approval.
